Part-Time Administrative Assistant
We are looking for a part-time Administrative Assistant to provide support for a busy staff in our Columbia, SC office. Ideal candidate will be a self-starter, able to work with little supervision, who is open to learning more about the IT industry and has excellent organizational skills with an interest in maintaining the office in a neat and orderly manner.
Duties will include assisting with phone calls, opening and distributing mail, filing, scheduling, billing, invoicing and other office support as assigned by the "team oriented" staff.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2003 (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Publisher) and E-mail is a must.
This is a part-time position - 20 - 25 flexible hours each week.
Jr. UNIX Admin
- BS in Computer Science or 2 to 3 years work experience as a UNIX systems administrator
- Knowledge of the UNIX operating system (Solaris and Linux preferred)
- Good perl and shell programming skills
- C and C++ knowledge is a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills * ability to work well with users
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated with interest in learning new applications and systems.
- Ability to handle multiple issues of varying priority effectively
- Ability to work unsupervised
Often there are several phases of projects running concurrently. This requires identifying solutions to problems, specifying projects, recommending schedules and priorities for projects, and programming solutions to these problems. All these phases must be coordinated to achieve results that satisfy both users needs and desires as effectively as possible. User support is a major facet of this position. The availability of the systems and applications are critical to the function of the business and the user community and therefore must be monitored on an on-going basis to ensure problem free use and smooth operation through training, guidance, and ongoing support when problems are encountered. Feedback from users is critical to enhancing system administration. This position must promote and use that feedback to improve the service provided.
Oracle DBA
The Database Administrator (DBA) is viewed as an expert in the administration and support of database technology. A DBA is responsible for the planning, maintenance and development of a database. He/she coordinates changes to databases, test and implement the database applying knowledge of database management systems. They are responsible for creating appropriate data structures, users and security roles, and for testing applications and data import processes, administering databases, and other database related procedures.
- Uses SQL Server, Oracle and DB2 for LUW database architecture knowledge to provide database expertise in the design; implementation; and integrations of multi-tiered applications residing on relational database management systems (RDBMS).
- Works with a team to develop strategies and select tools for data migration to support application implementations and upgrades.
- Performs capacity planning; performance monitoring and tuning; backup/recovery techniques; and problem determination and resolution
- Determines the standards and strategies for accessing the database via programs; on-line query languages; report generators; or other access technologies to ensure consistency and efficiency and proper security practices.
- Performs database system management functions (e.g., software installs, version upgrades and configuration management).
- Provides support to programmer analysts for database applications through problem determination and analysis to ensure proper use of application technologies against the database.
- Develops and maintains database programming standards and naming conventions to ensure consistency.
